Sewer Replacement in Elkhorn, NE
When a lateral has collapsed, gone out of grade or simply run out of life, replacement is the honest answer. Water Heater Repair Elkhorn does it trenchless where the line allows, and open-cut where it does not.

When replacement beats repair
- Collapsed or crushed sections that a liner cannot bridge
- Orangeburg (bituminised fibre) pipe, which deforms and fails wholesale — common in homes of a certain vintage
- A belly severe enough that the line no longer drains by gravity
- Root damage along the whole run rather than at one joint
- Repeated backups where jetting buys months, not years
- A line so far off grade that the flow has nowhere to go
Trenchless pipe bursting
A bursting head is pulled through the existing lateral, fracturing the old pipe outward while drawing new HDPE in behind it. Two access pits instead of a trench the length of the yard.
It preserves driveways, mature landscaping and hardscape, which on established Elkhorn properties is often the larger part of what an open-cut job really costs. It needs a continuous path and the correct existing grade, so it is not universal — the camera survey tells us.
Open-cut replacement
Sometimes the trench is the right answer: a collapsed run, a grade correction, a line that has to be rerouted. When we dig, we bed the new pipe properly rather than backfilling onto rubble. Clay subsoil in this corner of Douglas County does not sit still between winters, and pipe laid on unstable fill settles back out of grade inside a few seasons.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a sewer replacement take?
Trenchless bursting on a typical residential lateral is usually one to two days. Open-cut depends on length, depth and what is over the top of it — plan for two to four.
Will my yard be destroyed?
With trenchless, two access pits. With open-cut, a trench along the run which we backfill and restore. We show you the footprint before we start.
Do I need a permit for sewer replacement?
Yes, and an inspection. We pull the permit and meet the inspector — an unpermitted lateral is a problem you inherit at resale.
